Western Aikido Association.
The Western Aikido Association is directly affiliated with the Aikikai Hombu dojo. We are dedicated to studying and practicing the Aikido of the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba (O sensei), and taught by the late Hiroshi Kato Shihan.
We are dedicated to the goals espoused by the Founder who taught the smaller goal of Aikido is to purify and develop ourselves so the energies of the universe flow freely through us; and the greater goal is to work to establish world peace.

Robert Frager Shihan
Robert Frager Shihan (Shihan=Master Instructor in Japanese) is a Harvard-trained psychologist. He has been practicing the Aikido for over 55 years. Frager Shihan personally trained with the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, while living in Tokyo in the mid 1960s. He was a direct student of Michio Hikitsuchi (10th dan) in the 1970s, Hiroshi Kato Shihan in the 1990s and 2000s. Since Kato Sshihan’s passing, he has been the person in charge of the Western Aikido Association, our direct link to Aikikai Foundation in Tokyo, Japan.
He is the founder of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, where he is currently Director of the Spiritual Guidance program and professor of Psychology. He is renowned for his pioneering work in the field of Transpersonal Psychology and for his role in establishing the country’s first educational institution dedicated to this emerging field of research and practice.
