“In order to perform divine techniques, we need misogi(禊) of both body and spirit. We need to remake the spirit.

What is Aikido?
Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (“O Sensei” or “Great Teacher”). Aikido redirects an attacker’s aggression, by using proper balance, posture and mental awareness. Aikido is an excellent form of physical exercise and self defense. The study of Aikido involves learning smooth, balanced and coordinated movement in a non-competitive, cooperative atmosphere. During training sessions, students work with one another to refine their movements and further their understanding of Aikido principles. The practice of Aikido combines the training of the mind, body, and spirit in a single, unified discipline.
Those who train in Aikido do so for many different reasons, including physical fitness, self defense, personal growth, and confidence. For many, a highly valued dimension of their study is found in “The Way of Harmony of the Spirit” – an understanding that lifts one from beyond exercise and techniques towards a life of understanding and clarity.

A = self
Me = revolve
U = vertical
Ki = energy
Ha = horizontal
Shi = integration of the horizontal and vertical
“This naturally gives birth to divine techniques in both the vertical and horizontal dimensions.”
